Product Description

A silencing elbow is an elbow fitted with sound-absorbing lining material, which significantly attenuates sound waves. The sound attenuation consists of three components: absorption and reflection of near-axial waves by the elbow’s wall, and the conversion of energy from near-axial waves into oblique waves at the bend, where they are efficiently absorbed by the sound-absorbing material. When a right-angle silencing elbow is inserted into a rectangular-section duct, and sound-absorbing linings are added on both sides of the elbow, with a length equal to 2 to 4 times the characteristic width of the duct’s cross-section, the insertion loss at high frequencies will be 10 dB higher than that of a straight duct of the same length equipped with identical linings. Here, “high frequencies” refer to frequencies above the duct’s cutoff frequency. At low frequencies, the silencing elbow exhibits performance similar to that of a straight duct of the same length, without any additional insertion loss.
