It alters the turbulence of the process fluid or, under laminar flow conditions, introduces a pressure drop that results from changes in the valve’s resistance—or “friction.” This pressure-reducing process is commonly referred to as “throttling.” For gases, this process approximates an isothermal adiabatic state and typically depends on the gas’s degree of non-ideality (the Joule-Thomson effect). In the case of liquids, the pressure drop is dissipated by turbulent or viscous friction; in both scenarios, the pressure is converted into thermal energy, causing a slight increase in temperature. Galvanized plate regulating valves are used for the proper distribution and control of flowing liquids and gases.
